Mediterranean Trip

What is truly amazing about Monaco, even more than the outrageous wealth of the rich, is that the Grimaldi family has been the reigning group since 1297!  Michael was there in 1965 and 1966 to watch the greatest Formula 1 race on the planet.  At that time you could stand right next to the street railings as the race cars flew by at speeds over 100 mph.  Michael stood within 39 feet of Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart who were the premier drivers at that time.   The city is beautiful and quite seductive.  The history and role Monaco has played is well described here:  <https://www.britannica.com/place/Monaco>

We had to tender to get into the port.

New way to get to the palace!! Rather then climbing the rock, now there are escalators!

New addition to Monaco is the hillside was a park that honored Prince Albert and Princess Grace  (Kelly, the actress).

Monaco’s Courthouse.

Top of the rock, the streets are truly medieval.

Panorama of the Palace.

View of the harbor from the Palace.

Wow, so many roof gardens.

Four with Cox practicing.

Monaco has one of the world's oldest aquariums.  It was run for many years by Jacque Cousteau who used Monaco as his home base.  It is an amazing building as it cascades down the seaside of the rock and is built right into the hillside.  Here is a wonderful interactive website of the aquarium:

World’s first true deep diving submersible designed by Jacque Cousteau and launched the same year as the Beatles “Yellow Submarine.

Yellow is mucus! which protects the Moray from infection.  The Moray is actually blue.

No idea what these two creatures are, but they were SO interestingt!
