Mediterranean Trip

Cassis is a commune on the French Riviera near Marseille.  We decided to take a both ride to see Calanques National Park. Cassis is a popular vacation spot and tourist destination.  We hoped to see some wildlife but none was visible from the boat. More is here:  < W I K I P E D I A>

Park in the town center was home of some beautiful ducks.

Calanques National Park

What is so interesting about the park is that there is no soil for all these trees.  The trees crack the rock to catch rain and use their own leaf falls to make a soil compost.  The cliff storage/delivery buildings were for the loading of sand and limestone onto barges to build buildings and the fortress of Cassis.

For the truly adventurous.
