The most famous building in Cologne is the Dom Cathedral. It is Germany's largest cathedral and its three lacy towers dominate the skyline. Perhaps the most famous part of the cathedral is the solid gold box reportedly holding the bones of the 3 magi's who came from the east to the birthplace of the Christ. It is a city filled with museums and is an easy walking experience. To read the history of this unique item, go to Shrine of the Three Kings.  Later, I braved a gondola ride over the Rhine to see the magnificent river park.

Gold containment of the Magi remains.

If you take a photo, you need to give a cash tip.
