Quebec City

The history of Quebec City is pivotal in the development of Canada.  The fall of Quebec to the British pretty much sealed their control of the St Lawrence.  A really good account can be found here:  <https://www.quebec-cite.com/en/quebec-city/history-quebec>.  It’s quite a hike to the top where the fort is located, but the view is simply magnificent.

We docked behind this charming river boat.

That’s the Hotel Frontenac on the top of the hill (a climb I will remember!).  Here’s what it’s like to stay there:  <the Frontenac Hotel>. To the left is the fort built by the French.

The gangway off out ship.

The Terminal Building and Port Security.

Looking back the other way. Some of the art galleries were truly magnificent.  Needed more money than I was packing!

The funicular in the distance.  We chose to climb.

Cute wedding shot on the stairs.

Wonderful shopping street in Old Town.

Perhaps the best mural I’ve ever seen on this apartment building.  Each figure is important to the history of Quebec City.  Incredibly realistic painting 3D painting techniques.

View of the St Lawrence from the top of Quebec City and why the fort commanded the river.
