Where the Two Armies Met

The final day before the tour began we walked from the famous Dom Church to the Tiergaten Park.  The park was once a private hunting preserve of the King.  Now the Berliners get to enjoy it every day.  It is a beautiful and wonderfully cared for park, and surely ranks among the best city parks in the world.  We began the walk at the famous “Victory Monument” which still shows bullet wounds in the marble.

As we approach the Dom

The altar of the church.

The stair climb to the top of the Dom is a thigh burner for sure, but the result is so worth it.  A tour boat prepares to leave.

The River Spree.

View of the city from the Dom.

Busy streets. Everyone walks here.

Victory Monument, Tiergarten.

Lake in the park.

Reflections.

One of the many paths in the park.

Rhododendrons were in bloom everywhere in the park.

Next was our boarding of the Princess Longship and meeting the historians.
