Where the Two Armies Met

We arrived two days prior to the start of the tour so we could visit sites we’d not yet experienced.  The first was the Berlin Wall Memorial which runs for a kilometer along Bernaur Str.  Buildings become murals to the wall’s story and kiosks are everywhere explaining in detail this story.

Zoo Station near hotel.

Alexander Platz Station.

East German Guard Escaping.

Photo Mural Timeline.

Marilynn looking for photos.

Bricking up windows and doors to prevent escapes.

They were Dobermans and Rottweilers mostly when I saw them in 1966.

Mural showing the feelings held about the divided city.

Map showing the divided Berlin.

Stones showing one of the many tunnels and direction they took to get under the wall.

Guard Tower.

The Wall Museum has a tower where one can view an actually section of the Berlin Wall that was preserved to show how it functioned.  The higher wall is the East Berlin side.
