Where the Two Armies Met

The real surprise of Magdeburg was an entire block designed by the famous Viennese architect Hundertwasser.  His works are usually mistaken for the Spanish designer Goudy.  Wherever one looks at his buildings one is amazed.  The guide informed me that this structure completely changed the culture of the city from general unhappiness to feeling good about the future!

Magdeburg’s wonderful apartment complex by Hundertwasser.

Wittenburg and Luther’s Church/Academy

Our next stop was the city of Dresden which was the site of Allied fire bombing and Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Slaughterhouse 5 based on his experiences as a prisoner of war.  Go there Now.
