Michael and Marilynn tour

The Great Lakes:

From Duluth to Toronto

Frazier Bay gave us the real highlight of our trip.  We attended a dance ceremony of the local Anishinaabe First Nation that lived on the island near the Ocheechobee Lodge where we had a barbecue luncheon put on by the ships staff.  First Marilynn and I rode a zodiac up into the largest fresh water fjord in Canada- Baie Fine.  We didn’t see any wildlife on the zodiac, but did help a stalled zodiac and stopped by a huge beaver lodge.  The Ocheechobee Lodge is beautiful and is in high demand.  The lodge website is here: <https://okeechobeelodge.ca>.  To get a feel for the reservations (called reserves in Canada), here is the gov’t site:  <https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/reserves-in-ontario>.

Kayaks leaving Okeechobee for a trip into the fjord.

Two looks at the beach and barbecue area.

The dance began with a wonderfully narrated history of Anishinaabe.

Tribal singers and drummers who set the beat for the dancing.

The costumes and performances were simply wonderful and they made us all get up and dance at the end!

Then we all were asked to dance, and it felt good once it started!

I also got a shot of  what Marilynn said was a Chipping Sparrow!
