Here is the map of our travels in the I’le de France area. Historically, this area was a battleground between France and England and contains a wonderful example of Medieval fortress design above the town of Les Andelys. It also has a chateau that Rommel used in his defense of France from invasion by the Allies in World War II. It is, however, most famous as where Claude Monet lived and painted along with his famous pond and gardens near Giverny (which was a 20 minute drive from our place in Vethueil).
