Chateau La Roche Guyon is along the Seine River.  While it remains in some need of repair, it’s place in history is cemented by the occupation of Field Marshall Erwin Rommel during WWII.  From here he directed the defense of Normandy during June and July of 1944.  For a detailed reading of the history of this chateau, find it here:  <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Roche-Guyon>.

It was built into the limestone cliffs.

The Germans built into the cliff to house all manor of weapons, communications, etc.
