About an hour’s drive north from the San Jose Marriott is the hillside town of Sarchi.  It is famous in Costa Rica as being the home of their Ox Cart factory. It’s well over a hundred years old, this factory. The drill presses, saws, planes, etc. are still run by belts attached to an axel system turned by a water wheel.  Yet the results are absolutely amazing.  The town is now an artist center as the Ox Carts are no longer used to carry coffee beans down out of the hills to sea ports.  More can be learned at this website:  <https://www.twoweeksincostarica.com/oxcarts-sarchi/>
