Dumbarton Castle

Our next stop was at Dumbarton Castle.  It is the oldest known fortification in Scotland and sits above the Clyde River famous for ship building and trade.  Scottish patriots feel strongly about this castle since it always stood up after terrible times and became strong after each one of them.  It even played a key anti-aircraft function during WWII.  Wonderful explanation here:  <https://www.ancient-origins.net/ancient-places-europe/dumbarton-castle-0014089>.
