When  we looked at the maps and saw “Richelieu” we thought how cool—the city named after the famous Cardinal.  It was a good representation of a medieval town, but it turned out the Cardinal named himself after his hometown, not the other way around.  Not much here, but an out of the way small town no one goes to.  They are slowly trying to renovate the original structures and it has a beautiful square.

Four main streets from openings in original town wall run straight to the main square.

Hotel through driveway doors off main street.

Indoor Farmer’s Market.

Lovely restaurant we ate lunch at.

Other town wall to exit old town.

The old town wall is now homes, and the moat allows the owners to maintain a garden.
