Chateau du Rivau was south away from the Loire and Viene rivers. It was made famous by raising war horses which were bred to be fearless in combat.  Indeed, Joan of Arc made a special visit here to recruit horses for the battle of Orleans where she was credited with the victory over the English.  What was so much fun about this smaller chateau was that the current owners completely restored it to original drawings and put a real sense of fun into both the castle and gardens—as you will see in the images.  The owners have created a wonderful website advertising their castle, and, yes, you can book a stay in the castle.  It is located far away from the crowd in the purely farming country of the Loire region.  Very quiet and charming.

Here is the link to their website:  <https://www.chateaudurivau.com/en/>.

The  horse barn now features a really good multimedia show of the estate and its history.  They do not raise horses here now.

You will have to email me if you want to know  what this is all about.

This is a Wishing Tree.

The little ribbons are wishes.

I followed him for 20 minutes and he finally stopped in front of the art mirror and beganto preen. I leave it to you for the philosophy.

Artist’s impression of Joan of Arc as a bird.

Joan of Arc as a young farm girl.

This is a photo on the wall of the previous shot. I enlarged it because these owners are delightful.
